How to travel to the Virginia Tech campus and to the Inn at Virginia Tech:
Travel by air:
The closest airport is in Roanoke, Virginia: the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA). The airport is about 45 miles from campus.
ROA has direct flights from the following international airports: Charlotte Douglas, North Carolina (CLT), Washington-Dulles, Virginia (IAD), Atlanta, Georgia (ATL), Chicago O’Hare, Illinois (ORD), and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (PHL). Travel from Roanoke Airport (ROA) to Blacksburg and the Virginia Tech campus:
1. Use the regional bus service, the Smart Bus, which runs often on Monday to Friday but less frequently over the weekend. The bus will drop you off on campus, please see the map at the end of this section. On the map the Inn at Virginia Tech is located in section E3 (indicated by arrow) and the Smart bus stop is located in section G2 (indicated by arrow). The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center is approximately a 10 min walk from this bus stop, as are other campus locations of interest to the conference. The Smart Bus schedule is found at https://smartwaybus.com/smartway.html (cost is $4 each way, and exact cash is needed). The Smart Bus is also the last portion of your trip to Blacksburg if you travel by Amtrack train to Roanoke (please see under Travel by train).
2. Use ride services such as Uber or Lyft.

4. Rent a car from airport and drive to Blacksburg. If staying at the Inn at Virginia Tech, there is complimentary parking. If staying at other hotels, most have free parking also, but please check.
Travel by train or bus:
1. Amtrak train service (https://www.amtrak.com/home.html) runs to Roanoke, which is around 45 miles from campus. The remaining travel from Roanoke to Blacksburg is completed via the Smart Bus. For more information about the Smart Bus, please see the section above ("From Roanoke Airport to Blacksburg"). When buying tickets, please specify Blacksburg as your final destination. The Smart Bus stops on campus.
