Scientific Program
The scientific program will start on Monday July 21, 2025, at 8:15 am and end on Friday July 25, 2025, at about 11:30 am. The EDISON 23 Program can be downloaded HERE. The Program shows the detailed conference schedule. Please check back regularly for minor updates.
A program and abstract book will be provided to attendees.
Information for speakers and presenters
The time slot for invited presentations is 35 minutes: 30 minutes talk and 5 minutes questions.
The time slot for contributed presentations is 18 minutes: 15 minutes talk and 3 minutes questions.
The poster boards are horizontal (landscape) format and accommodate posters maximum 48" (122 cm) wide and 36" (91 cm) high. Poster presenters have the option of presenting a 4 minute short talk (flash talk), with two slides, before the poster session. The poster session is scheduled for Tuesday July 22 at 5:15 pm to 7:15 pm (refreshments are served). The poster short talks are given in two sessions: session Tu3.1 on Tuesday July 22 at 1:30 pm to 2:22 pm and session Tu4.2 on Tuesday July 22 at 4:05 pm to 4:53 pm (poster presenters will be allocated a specific time soon, not yet indicated on the schedule).
Registration and Welcome Reception
Registration: Sunday July 20, 2025, 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm, at the Inn at Virginia Tech (registration remains open during the week).
Welcome Reception: Sunday July 20, 2025, 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at the Inn at Virginia Tech. All conference participants are welcome. Snacks and drinks are served. Collect your registration materials at the registration desk, relax from your travel, and meet with colleagues over food and drinks. We look forward to seeing you at the Welcome Reception.
Social Program
Conference Excursion: Wednesday July 23, 1:30 pm to 6:30 pm. A trip to the Chateau Morrisette Winery and the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, about 55 minutes drive by bus from Blacksburg. The Chateau Morrisette Winery is on the Blue Ridge Parkway, in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and is a great place to relax, stroll around, enjoy the famous Blue Ridge views, sip wine, and participate in the winery and cellar tour. The Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia attract visitors from around the world for their natural beauty, local ecosystems, stunning colors, and hiking opportunities. We will stop at scenic overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway, which winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and other Appalachian Mountain chains.
Conference Dinner: Thursday July 25, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Inn at Virginia Tech.
Optional tour of the Virginia Tech Nanoscale Characterization and Fabrication Lab (NCFL), sponsored by JEOL USA Inc. and ICTAS: Monday July 21, 5:10 pm onward (transportation provided).
NOTE: the Welcome Reception, Conference Excursion, Conference Dinner and NCFL tour are all included in the registration.
EDISON Young Researcher Award
The EDISON Young Researcher Award will be conferred during the closing session, on Friday July 25, 10:45 am to 11:15 am.
