Description
How can we transform grading from a "one-shot" stressor into a continuous journey of improvement? This presentation explores the use of Specifications Grading in introductory physics for majors to shift the focus from points to progress. By pairing clear learning goals with the opportunity for reattempts, we create a supportive framework where mistakes are viewed as essential steps toward mastery. We will share practical strategies for designing "satisfactory" rubrics and managing a re-assessment structure that encourages students to persist, iterate, and truly own their development as physicists.
