Traveling to the Meeting Site/Hotel :

By car: Please follow the directions of Google Maps to the Meeting Site Parking Lot or the Conference Hotel.

By train: Please see the Amtrak map to see if your area is serviced. Take the train to either the Washington DC Union Station, or the Alexandria Station.
From these stations, use Metrorail to reach the West Falls Church - VT/UVA metro station (on the Orange Line) from where the Meeting Site is within walking distance. (See the Meeting Location page.) To reach the Conference Hotel, see below for directions.

From Union Station to West Falls Church - VT/UVA:

Take the Red Line (toward Shady Grove) from Union Station to Metro Center. Transfer to the Orange Line (toward Vienna) at Metro Center and get off at West Falls Church - VT/UVA.

From Alexandria Station to West Falls Church - VT/UVA:

Take the Blue Line (toward Largo) from King St - Old Town to Rosslyn. Transfer to the Orange Line (toward Vienna) at Rosslyn and get off at West Falls Church - VT/UVA.

Alternatively, take the Yellow Line (toward Greenbelt) from King St - Old Town to L'Enfant Plaza. Transfer to the Orange Line (toward Vienna) at L'Enfant Plaza and get off at West Falls Church - VT/UVA.

By long-distance bus: The Virginia Breeze Bus Lines has four routes that connect various parts of Virginia with Washington DC Union Station :
Two of these routes have stops at the West Falls Church - VT/UVA metro station which will let you go directly to the Meeting Site/Hotel. For the other two, please use Metrorail from Union Station to West Falls Church - VT/UVA.
SmarTrip:
If you are traveling to the Meeting Site/Hotel by Metrorail and/or Metrobus, or plan to use them during your stay, we highly recommend opening a SmarTrip account and downloading the SmarTrip app to your mobile phone. The app will allow cashless payments for train and bus fares, and Metro Station parking lots (free on weekends). If you have disabilities or are 65 or older, please see the Reduced Fare Programs page on how to receive discounted fares.
A block of hotel rooms at a reduced rate of $129.00 + 15% tax = $148.35 (for both 1 King and 2 Queen rooms) per night is available for the nights of Friday, October 21, 2022 and Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Hilton Garden Inn Falls Church (Google map). It is a 5-minute drive/6-minute bus ride/20-minute walk from the meeting site.
Breakfast is NOT included in the rate. (If you wish to be frugal, please utilize the supermarkets labeled in the map above. The hotel rooms are equipped with small fridge, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker. Breakfast on Saturday is available at the Meeting site.)
Parking at the hotel is free.
We have limited funds to provide lodging support for high school teachers of up to $150/night. Please see the Lodging Support section below for details.
To make a reservation, call the hotel directly at (703) 237-8700, or the Hilton reservation line at (800) 774-1500, and mention the group name CSAAPT 2022 FALL MEETING or the group code CSAAPT.
You can also make a reservation from the Hilton webpage at www.fallschurch.hgi.com :
- Select the check-in and check-out dates
- Click on the Special Rates button, type in CSAAPT into the group code box, then close the pop-up window
- Click on the Check Rooms & Rates button to receive the discounted rate

Lodging Support:
We have limited funds to provide lodging support to high school teachers of up to $150/night at the Hilton Garden Inn Falls Church for the nights of Friday, October 21, 2022 and Saturday, October 22, 2022.
Please DO NOT inquire the hotel about this support! People receiving this support must make a reservation at the hotel as usual and pay the hotel first, and then submit the hotel receipt to us. A check will be mailed to you later.
To apply, indicate the number of nights you would like to request support for in the registration form, and also fill in the requested information. The deadline to apply for this support is Friday, September 23, 2022. The application section on the registration form will be deactivated after this date.
People selected for support will be notified by Monday, September 26, 2022, in time to take advantage of the CSAAPT group rate at the Hilton Garden Inn Falls Church, the cutoff date for which is Wednesday, September 28, 2022.
Preference will be given to high school teachers who are presenting a talk or demo, and those who must travel long distance to reach the Meeting site.
If you are selected to receive this support, you will be requested to provide the following:
- A copy of your School ID which proves that you are a current high school physics teacher
- A copy of the detailed receipt from the hotel
A check will be mailed to you after the meeting from either Virginia Tech or the University of Virginia.
